How to Have a Great Career Launch
When You Graduate College

(Post COVID-19)
2 minute read

WHY COLLEGE?

If you are like most students, you are attending college for one or more of the following reasons.

Maybe you want to be on your own, somewhere different from where you grew up.

Perhaps you have become interested in an area that you want to learn more about.

Or like many students you are going to college because…., well that is what comes next.

It is likely you are also attending college in pursuit of a successful and meaningful career.

Or to put it another way – to be qualified to get good jobs – better ones that you could likely get with just a high school diploma.

That is what 90% of beginning college students state each year in a massive survey of beginning college students.

TODAY'S CHALLENGING ROAD FROM COLLEGE TO CAREER

Do you know a recent college graduate, or have you heard about one who earned a college degree and was unable to land a good job after graduation?

Maybe you have seen articles about this.

The road from college to career has been more challenging in the last decade than many people realize.

Prior to COVID-19 the overall unemployment rate was relatively low. But there were a lot of recent college graduates who were UNDEREMPLOYED (43%), that is, doing jobs that they could have done without a college degree.

There is no shame in doing any job, but the vast majority of college students want "dream jobs" after graduating with a college degree.

Very reputable studies have shown that, unfortunately, many UNDEREMPLOYED recent college graduates remain UNDEREMPLOYED.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE DOING *NOW* TO BE PREPARED FOR A GREAT CAREER LAUNCH WHEN YOU GRADUATE COLLEGE

Our two decades of experience working with thousands of students and employers of college graduates has shown us that in addition to a college degree, THE MOST SUCCESSFUL COLLEGE GRADUATES POSSESS:

1 - Career awareness, focus and knowledge
2 - Experience outside of classes
3 - A professional network
4 - Specific SKILLS that employers seek in college graduates and skills needed to manage a career

The KEY to having a career focus, valuable experience, a professional network and skills that employer and grad schools want it is to START EARLY and WORK ON these things WELL BEFORE GRADUATION.

Trust us – You cannot “cram” and do all of this in a few months before graduation!
